heating and ventilation air conditioning?

heating and air conditioning
heidelberg asked:

Is there such a thing like a timer for a gas furnace and or what is the most effective way to have the furnace working more efficiently besides setting the thermostat very low? Thank you for your response.

Look at buying a programmable thermostat. They give you the ability to adjust temperatures when you are away at work, return them to a comfortable level just before you get home and again adjust the temperature as you are sleeping. Many are capable of different settings for week and week-end lifestyles.

First thing first there are timer devices built into programmable thermostats and they do work as designed but if you want the furnace to run efficiently here is what to do first set the fan to the on position not auto in auto it will only kick on intermittently and when it cycles to the on position from the off position it burns about 700 times the electricity that it would have used if it had been running the whole time because it has to get turning again. The second thing is never vary the temperature more than 4 or 5 degrees if you try to save money by turning the thermostat way down when you are out at work or whatever the furnace will burn up all the money you saved all day trying to heat the floor, the furniture, the walls etc. etc. very inefficient. Find a temperature you are comfortable at and set the thermostat at that temp when you are home lets say 68 when you go to work turn it down to 63 you will save money and energy remember these things are designed to run and burn so let the fan run and let the furnace burn
